OPTIONAL FIELD TRIP - OCTOBER 4-6

LIMITED SPACES STILL AVAILABLE, BUT BOOK SOON

ENCHANTING MYSORE, A JUNGLE RESORT AND TOBACCO FARMS & AUCTION FLOORS

Those of you who attended GTNF 2008 in Brazil will remember how useful, exciting and informative the field trips were. Well, GTNF 2010 is also about offering you a chance to get to know something about the host country’s tobacco industry as well as networking with colleagues and members of India’s leading tobacco companies.
Which is why we are offering you a fantastic foray to the enchanting city of Mysore, then into its surrounding areas to sample the jungle and its flora and fauna and finally to the tobacco farms and auctions of this fertile growing area.
Enchanting Mysore
Your excursion will begin with a trip from Bangalore to Mysore where, after a sumptuous lunch, you will take in Mysore’s rich, vibrant history and culture. You will visit grand palaces, majestic temples; see stunning art and beautiful gardens. And you will get a chance to haggle over some of Mysore’s famous silks, sandalwood and stone carved objects and traditional paintings.
A wild time in the jungle
Then it’s off for two nights in a tranquil, unspoilt jungle resort hotel from where you’ll be taken on a safari expedition into the wilderness to see how much of the wildlife you can spot and, if you wish, photograph. Species of the area include the elephant, tiger, leopard, wild boar, barking deer, crocodile and over 250 varieties of bird.

A rare, up close view of India’s tobacco industry
From the jungle wilderness you will travel to a tobacco farm to see, first hand, the Mysore crop, best practices, field trials as well as get to interact with some of the growers there.
You will get to visit a tobacco aggregating sites where you will see almost all tobacco varieties/grades grown in India, and even be able to evaluate them.
Perhaps most exciting of all, you will be invited to a disappearing tradition: the tobacco auction. In fact you will be witnessing one of the largest auction of flue-cured tobaccos in the world.
The all inclusive price for this fantastic trip (which runs from Monday to Wednesday, 4-6 October),
including all accommodation, meals, excursions and transport, is $780.
